Gilleasbuig Iain Macmillan KCVO FRSE was a minister of the Church of Scotland and was elected as an Honorary Academician in 1977 to serve as the Chaplain of the RSA.
Like a number of his predecessors as Chaplain to the RSA he served as Minister of St Giles, the High Church of Edinburgh, from 1973 until his retirement in September 2013. He was Dean of the Thistle and Chaplain to Queen Elizabeth II.
In 2020 he retired from the active role as Chaplain of the RSA and was replaced by Professor Mona Siddiqui HRSA OBE FRSE FRSA as Honorary Speaker.
