Ann Nisbet RSA (Elect) was brought up in Kinlocheil, Lochaber, in the west coast Highlands. She studied at the University of Strathclyde, graduating in 2004 with a Master’s in Architecture with distinction, and winning the Professor’s Award for Design Excellence.
In 2004, she joined Dualchas Architects in the Isle of Skye and worked on rural projects all over the Highlands and Islands. She returned to Glasgow to establish their mainland office in 2007, and was Principal Architect there until Autumn 2011.
Ann co-founded Edo Architecture, a small Architecture and research studio, which undertook several community-based projects, over a period of 18 months. These included Ghost of Water Row, a self-initiated community architectural installation, which won a RIAS award and was shortlisted for the Andrew Doolan Award for Best Building in Scotland in 2013.
In 2013, she established Ann Nisbet Studio and has since completed several Award-winning small-scale projects across Scotland; Albert Drive, Glasgow; Altarf, Isle of Skye and Newhouse of Auchengree, North Ayrshire, which was shortlisted for RIBA House of the year and the Andrew Doolan Award.
She is a trustee of the Langside Halls Trust and is a former Director of the Scottish Ecological Design Association.
