Elected RSA: 1826 (1829)

Patrick Gibson was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour. He studied at the Trustees Academy under Alexander Nasmyth and was a member of the Society of Artists who exhibited in 1808. He generally painted in the style of the great French painters Poussin and Claude. 

 

Serving as Art Master at Dollar Academy from 1824-29 he was one of only two foundation members of the RSA, along with Robert Gibb, who painted landscape.
