Adam Bruce Thomson was born in Edinburgh on the 22nd of February 1885. His schooling and further training took place in Edinburgh and was enrolled as a student of Architecture in the Trustees’ Academy then held in the Royal Institution, now the RSA building. On completion of his training, he studied in Holland, Paris and Madrid before returning to Edinburgh to teach at the College of Art.
He exhibited regularly in Academy Exhibitions, only on two occasions venturing into solo exhibiting which he did in 1948 at a gallery in Edinburgh where practically all of the works sold.
He was elected ARSA in 1937 and RSA in 1946.
