Kat Cutler-MacKenzie is an artist and art historian based in Edinburgh, where she shares a studio with her part-time collaborator Ben Caro. In 2021 she graduated with an MA Fine Art from Edinburgh College of Art, following which she received the ECA/ESW Graduate Studio Award and Graduate Residency.
Cutler-MacKenzie has presented her art historical research on performance art, contemporary feminist movements and critical approaches to art history at the 8th Annual Euroacademia Conference (2020) and The Association for Art History Annual Conference (2022). She has recently undertaken a residency at Copper Leg Art Residency in Estonia (2022) and exhibited her work at gr_und gallery in Berlin (2023) in the exhibition Bodies of Love. Since graduating, Cutler-MacKenzie has received The Association for Art History DECR Bursary Award, Creative Scotland’s VACMA Award and the Hope Scott Trust Visual Art Grant, the latter of which supported the production of You are My Joan of Arc.
You are My Joan of Arc is a sculptural installation that extends from Cutler-MacKenzie’s research into contemporary notions of love, motherhood and the lives of saints Agatha of Sicily and Joan of Arc.
