The virtue and innocence of commitment are encapsulated in a pinkie promise. Intertwining pinkies between childhood friends and crushes is nostalgic and memorable yet ephemeral. Often, our partnerships carry the legacy of our prior generations; our culture is held at the wedding. But what does a wedding look like for a disjointed and oppressed culture? Using the tactility of rings made of strained glass offcuts by religious artist Karen J Jones, I bring the nostalgia back into a Queer wedding where legacy hasn't existed before. By repurposing and reclaiming material that has tension for many queer folks, I envision a better future. A fictioned religion where queer love and commitment can be celebrated to honour our histories as queer marriages evolve into the new age.
