Tegan Chaffer is a Painting graduate who studied at Edinburgh College of Art. To date, she has exhibited in the Tatha Gallery Graduate Show and was also shortlisted for the Astaire Art Prize.
Tegan specialises in miniature oil paintings which are often displayed alongside models and soft sculptures. Through chalky paintings of interior spaces and the figures that fill them, Tegan explores the idea of the home as a complex and conflicting environment. Her use of miniaturisation allows for the intense, controlled manipulation of her scenes, which are imbued with nostalgia and an underlying sense of discomfort. Through her paintings she captures the mundanity of home life and the hidden tensions associated with the home and the roles of women in a domestic setting.
