I like the way things fall into place without trying too hard. It’s something like the way the garden knives slot into their place in the slats of the shed. My favourite jumper is by Junya. It is striped: field grey, khaki and black. It is homely but it’s also far away.
Felt is the ground for my paintings. I use colour, but I don’t want to paint it on. Banners, badges and clothes are closer to what I am trying to get at. The black felt has folds and is pinned with iron nails. I wanted it to loom out from the wall. It is a silhouette.
