My work often begins in a personal condition, understanding my own experiences through visual image and progressing to acknowledge that these feelings are not just mine. The ultimate goal of my work is to provide comfort not just to myself, but also to others. Because of this process of realising ideas, my environment, interactions, and connections with others have a significant impact on how my work is generated. My ideas have frequently been realised through moving image and projection, but I have recently blended these mediums with painting and photography. This technique arose from an interest not just in the linkages between art and technology, but also the boundaries of physical and digital.
I recently earned an Honours degree in Fine Art from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee. Since graduating I have been involved with a show at Salt Space Glasgow called Keeping the Baw Rolling, a show at Edinburgh Palette titled New Year, New Me, New World Order, and I’ve also shown work at Art Night Dundee.
This specific body of work focuses on pub culture and the dynamics of making art alongside a day job. It considers whether maintaining a separation between two aspects of your life is necessary, or even feasible.
