Sasha Ballon graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2022. She was selected for the Sculpture Placement Group and shortlisted for the Sustainability Award. In 2023 Sasha performed at Glasgow’s Buzzcut Festival.
Sasha’s practice looks at ecological narratives, queer intimacy, the poetics of strength and softness. Sasha is influenced by craft and trade processes. She collects recycled greenwood from her work in tree surgery to chainsaw carve figurative structures. Sasha uses weaving and textiles as a celebration of the handmade, stitching stories of landscape together. This collection of work is a reflection on the breaking and mending process, a comparison of the fragility and resilience of the human body.
