Iona Peterson is a Scottish artist based in Clackmannanshire. She graduated from the MA (Hons) Fine Art course at Edinburgh College of Art in 2023 and is currently undertaking a graduate residency at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop. Iona’s practice explores the connections between the human and non-human environment through examining processes of community building, societal structures, and relationship to the land.

The sculptures exhibited are inspired by lived experience and family history on the west coast of Scotland and Hebridean islands. Achosnich (translating to field of the sighing winds) explores human narratives in remote landscapes. Bus shelter/ Neighbours is an ode to the weather, music as a community building tool, and evolving traditions. And the final sculpture explores the changing relationship to our coastlines in the context of the climate crisis.
