Aimie Harding has recently completed her degree in Art and Philosophy at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. Over the course of her studies, she has become interested in exploring the ambiguous distinction between the ‘natural’ world and the ‘human’ world, where our technologies are no longer distinctly ours. Aimie’s practice centres around the creation of sculptural artefacts that exist within an alternative future world. The work exhibited here is comprised of a selection of Seed Pod sculptures, each experimenting with various stages of growth within this future world.

Aimie’s interdisciplinary practice is imagination driven, using a range of materials and processes to create sculptures. This includes wheel thrown and hand sculpted ceramics, woodworking, sound recording and creative writing. Inspired by the vast imaginative worlds found in science fiction, her sculptures envision the possibilities that occur as the natural world absorbs our human technologies, claiming them for itself in entirely unique ways.
