Having worked and lived in Glasgow all my life, I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2024. I was fortunate enough to be last year’s recipient of the Steven Campbell Trust Hunt Medal, which is an incredible honour. I continue to make work within my studio in The Briggait.
My work is centred around themes of memory, nostalgia and life. Referencing family memorabilia and my photographs, I create emotionally driven work that reflects moments from my lifetime. My goal is to recreate these moments in a new, more emotional light. My life is essentially a catalyst for my practice. I use large brushes to cover any surface quickly, sometimes mixing directly on the surface. Very fluid and raw, I do not intend for my work to be detailed and insightful but rather to have just enough information for the viewer to understand what they see.
With these selected works I want to invite viewers to look beyond what they see and allow themselves to feel their way across the canvas. I hope these paintings can open a door to memories and imagination.
