Kirsty MacDonald is a Scottish mixed-media artist who works primarily with drawings and painting but also sculptural forms.
“Scottish culture and the world of plants lie at the heart of my practice. I focus on how plants affect our culture, identity, and life, working directly with them to create sustainable and natural mediums, which I weave into a storytelling narrative through the creation of paintings and sculptural forms. Natural pigments and sustainability are a large part of my practice, and these artworks show just the beginning of my journey into developing my craft professionally.”
Kirsty graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree from Gray’s School of Art in 2024 and is currently studying for her master’s in fine art at the same institution. She has been awarded the RGU Art and Heritage Purchase Award 2024 and the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Emerging Maker Award 2024.
