George Simson RSA 1791-1862

On the 11^th March last, a vacancy on the list of the Academicians was occasioned by the decease of a much respected member of the body, Mr. George Simson, R.S.A., long connected with the Academy as a contributor to its Exhibitions, and well known as one of the most popular teachers of Art in Edinburgh.

It is superfluous to say, that a warm feeling of regard was widely entertained for Mr. Simson among his brethren of the Academy, who, some time after his decease, communicated a kindly expression of their sympathy to his widow and family.
