This is the earliest sculpture in the exhibition, made before Schotz started evening classes at Glasgow School of Art., It is of its time and quite different from his later work. He is only thinking of faithful likeness at this stage. It was originally a full bust, but Schotz cut it down and mounted it as a relief.
'…for many years it hung on the wall of my uncle’s living room, looking out on us in earnest contemplation.'
