Alice Barker is a queer artist born and currently based in North London. Their work is a conversation on the duality of dreamlike disorientation alongside comforting nostalgia. Through the use of collage to create new distorted narratives, and thin washes of oil paint and turpentine, barker investigates the fine line that separates memory from reality. This new body of work delves into Barker’s identity as a queer artist, each painting representing a different point in Barker’s life, starting with childhood and ending at the present day.

Barker studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 2021 with a BA (Hons) in Painting. Barker is currently on a break from studying, but is enrolled to start at the TURPS school of art in September 2023. Barker has previously exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy, having taken part in the RSA Annual Exhibition in 2021. They have also featured on the 2021 television series of Portrait Artist of the year.
