This is a rare instance of portraiture in Wilson's oeuvre and probably reflects the influence of Edgar Holloway who established his reputation on his portraits of leading figures in the art world. The sitter was Wilson's sister. Wilson exhibited an impression of this print at the RSA in 1937 (cat.717).
