New School Entrant Award - Intermediate Prize Winner

From the artist: My winning painting is of my cat, Gwen. I chose to paint her because she was a new addition to the family at the time and is very special to us. My aim was to capture Gwen in her natural environment, lurking amongst the greenery, ready to pounce on unexpecting creatures, portraying her mischievous nature.

I used acrylic paint throughout the entire painting, as I am most comfortable with this medium and it allowed me to stay true to my photorealistic style.
I was so surprised to find out that I had won the new entrants prize in the intermediate category since I was up against so many artists.
