From the artist: My artwork is a hand-built pottery sculpture of an owl. It was built using a combination of slab and pinch-pot techniques. We were given the topic of creatures that live in Scotland and I chose to make an owl. They are fascinating. I like the expression that I have managed to create on the owl's face and the glazing has helped to bring out the character.

I am really pleased and surprised to have won this award. I think that this award has really lifted my confidence in what I can achieve and will give me motivation to do more.
