From the artist: For my portrait, I wanted it to reflect myself when I am alone at night. This led to me choosing a calm but slightly dark colour scheme with an emphasis on natural tones. I was also inspired by the portrait Piccasso did of his mother when he was a similar age to me; influencing me to choose a composition where I was not seemingly aware of the viewer's presence. I am so pleased that my portrait has been considered for this prize and I am very grateful to my art teacher for putting me forward for it.
