The artist: "This painting is about the cleansing and feel of renewal that water brings us, the movement and flow of diving through waves feels refreshing and elegant. Maggi Hambling has heavily inspired me by the flow she presents in her work. I applied wall tile adhesive to the board in order to create a textured surface for the paint to look more sculpted. A palette knife and acrylic were used on the board, leaving the surface like the ocean. The painting is 3 by 2 metres, and having never painted on this scale, proportions were definitely a challenge, but the looseness of the paints helped find those organic forms within my subject matter."3of 3
