The Royal Scottish Academy is lending three pieces from its collection to David Foggie – The Painters’ Painter exhibition in Dundee.
Foggie’s striking Diploma Work ‘Woman with Clasped Hands’, ‘The Young Miner’ and ‘Study’ can all be viewed at this important exhibition looking at the work of David Foggie RSA.
This major retrospective exhibition will feature loans from around the country and will be the first exhibition devoted to Foggie for over 25 years. Born in Dundee in 1878, David Foggie became a master of painting technique, specialising in stunningly beautiful portraits. A popular teacher at Edinburgh College of Art and Secretary of the Royal Scottish Academy, his work was highly acclaimed during his lifetime, but has often been neglected since. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to re-evaluate an extraordinary artistic talent.
