This autumn we are pleased to present an exhibition of works spanning a cross-section of Bronwen Sleigh’s career. Working in printmaking, drawing and sculpture, Sleigh’s practice takes inspiration from manmade structures and spaces which have evolved through time to create the cities and built environments which exist today. She considers these forms through the eyes of their planners and architects, her work reflects on the gap between concepts of the past and present-day reality. This exhibition in the Academicians’ Gallery will include recent works as well as rarely seen pieces from early in the artist’s career.
Born in 1980 and raised in Mid-Wales, Bronwen Sleigh RSA (Elect) received her BA from the Glasgow School of Art and MA from the Royal College of Art, where she was selected for a six-week exchange to the University of Calgary, Canada. She has worked for the Royal College of Art, the Royal Academy Schools as a Print Fellow and at Edinburgh Printmakers as their etching technician and collaborating printer.
Sleigh has exhibited widely both in the UK and overseas, as well as attending several artists residencies including at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada, and Cove Park, Scotland. She was elected a Member of the Royal Scottish Academy in 2023.
