Since our foundation in 1826, international artists have been part of the fabric of the Royal Scottish Academy and have helped to shape the wider story of art in Scotland. In 2020, our Collections received a significant studio gift from the family of the sculptor Benno Schotz RSA (1891-1984), who came to Scotland from Estonia in 1912. This is the first exhibition to showcase that gift, which will be complemented with the work of other artists who have chosen to make Scotland their home, celebrating our multi-cultural past, present and future.
