Winning entry to an open international design competition in 2010, the Royal Parks Foundation Drinking Fountain was selected as ‘a formally elegant addition to the repertoire of urban furniture provided in London’s Royal Parks.’ It is a robust piece of public design that feels joyful, and, with its softly flared shape, it playfully evokes the flora of its surroundings.
The body of the fountain is cast in bronze, with a stainless steel drinking spout and drain. Excess water is caught in the basin, and guided through the centre of the fountain to a drain that incorporates a drinking bowl for dogs at the bottom.
Its design also comprises of a minimised number of components, so assembly is simple.
