We wanted to let you know that we’re making some changes to our RSA Friends and Benefactors programme.
From 1 October 2024, the cost of a single Friends Membership will be increased by £5, and the cost of a duo Friends Membership will be increased by £8. RSA Friends will still receive a £3 discount if they sign up to direct debit. This means that from October the cost of a single membership will start at £32 per year and the cost of a duo membership will start at £50 per year.
We haven’t raised our membership prices since 2016, and this small increase will ensure the sustainability of the programme and help us to manage increasing costs. This will also allow us to continue to deliver the wide range of exciting benefits RSA Friends receive:
- Friends’ private views of the Annual Exhibition and RSA New Contemporaries
- Access to our newly refurbished Friends’ Room
- Free admission to RSA New Contemporaries
- Invitations to Friends only events and travel
- Priority booking and discounted events tickets
- RSA Newsletters delivered to your door
We’re also offering new benefits to our Benefactors. As an independent self-funded charity, we rely on donations to continue our support of Scotland’s creative future, and as we approach our 200th anniversary in 2026, there couldn’t be a more exciting time to get involved with the Academy.
You can still become a Benefactor by making a one-off donation in addition to your annual fee for your Friends membership. Or, from October, you can spread your Benefactor donation out over the year. We hope that this will allow as many people as possible to become Benefactors.
Redpath Benefactor – RSA Friends membership plus an annual donation of £20 - £99 or monthly donation of £5.
- All RSA Friends membership benefits, plus an acknowledgement in a newsletter.
Eardley Benefactor – RSA Friends Membership plus an annual donation of £100 - £239 or monthly donation of £10.
- All Redpath Benefactor benefits, plus invites to private views for all of our exhibitions.
Blackadder Benefactor – RSA Friends Membership plus an annual donation of £240+ or monthly donation of £20.
- All Eardley Benefactor benefits, plus intimate access to the Academy through a series of private events.

In donating to the RSA, becoming a Friend or a Benefactor, you’re helping the Royal Scottish Academy to become more sustainable and ensuring that we can continue deliver a vibrant programme of events and exhibitions and support Scottish artists and architects at all stages of their careers through range of awards and opportunities.
If you’re an RSA Friend or Benefactor, then we’ll be in touch directly ahead of your renewal date to let you know how this effects your membership. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us at friends@royalscottishacademy.org.
