    The RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Travel Award (£5,000) aims to enable a committed fine art painter to carry out the research, development and production of a new body of work through a dedicated period of international travel. Painters may use the funds to take a trip to any location outside the UK.  

     

    The award is funded by the Blackadder Houston Bequest and administered by the Royal Scottish Academy.

  • Eligibility

    Eligibility

    • Entrants must be mid-career painters who are at least 15 years out of art school or can demonstrate at least 15 years of substantive practice.

    • The entrant's practice must be predominantly based in painting, this can be in any medium or subject.
    • Entrants must not currently be in education.
    • Entrants must be born or currently living in Scotland (and have been for at least consecutive 3 years).
