This sketchbook was completed near the end of Kirkland Main’s lecturing career and into his retirement. Main brings a vibrancy to the landscapes he sketches, the colour palette reminiscent of his exhibited pieces.
The sketchbook is full of abstract forms, architecture, and natural landscapes. Main produced the pieces Atalaya, The Scottish Romantic Tradition, Romanesque Restenneth, Temenos, Kellie, and Deconstruction during or shortly after completing this sketchbook.
