Remi Jabłecki was born in 1996 in Zielona Góra, Poland. He now lives, works and studies in Edinburgh. He received the Andrew Grant Postgraduate Scholarship, the SSA New Graduate Award, Eduardo Paolozzi Travel Award and has been shortlisted for the Global Design Graduate Show x Gucci 2023 and Astaire Prize. He exhibited recently at Saatchi Gallery after being shortlisted in the New Blood Art Award, Maclaurin Galleries for the SSA New Graduate Award and Tatha Gallery.

Remi’s practice focuses on painting, drawing, and installation, predominantly concentrating on canvas and oil painting. Inspired by the practice of gardening and Polish heritage, his developed works draw attention to the personal experience and the relationship between gardening, labour practice, land, and queerness. Through multidisciplinary approaches, his practice takes various forms, often using abstracted qualities with narratives drawn from the vegetable garden and engagement with agriculture.

The exhibited paintings engage with the landscape of labour, translating the focus and care from the environment onto the canvases. Stories and moments encounter in the wild dismantle and build up new hierarchies, reflecting on our society and more considered future.
