Lucy Gibb is a recent graduate from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. During her time at Gray’s, she received the John Gray Legacy Award in her third year of studies and the George Davidson’s Trust Art Scholarship in her final year of university.

Lucy’s practice focuses on the theme of ‘women’s work’. She uses textiles to explore the theme of women’s craft; In the same way that there is beauty to the craft of female manual labourers- there is also a monotony. She uses her practice to show the hard work and skill required within handcraft, much like that undertaken by past generations of women.

Her broad use of materials allows the making process to become very experimental. The materials she uses are a crucial factor when creating as they take the lead in forming the work and illustrating her ideas.
