Holly Tafe graduated from Glasgow School of Art having studied Painting and Printmaking in 2023. Her work often focuses on balancing harshness and delicacy, bringing a lot of feminine energy into her pieces.

She is heavily influenced by abject art, camp and the absurd, she believes humour holds great power within art. This humour is met with fluxes of emotional charge, especially through mark-making, again, creating a balance.

She looks to her interests when creating her work, in this case taking form of the figure Screaming Lord Sutch. This piece is dedicated to the late musician, capturing his influential ‘gothness’ that has almost been lost in time; he pioneered camp and the gruesome within music. This figure embodies what Holly’s practice is: ludicrous yet hauntingly soft.
